The base sniper rifle isn't awful but I don't think it has any modifiers without adding weapon mods. It's also pretty easy to get to if you spoil yourself or already know where it is from another playthrough.

In the base game, the Gobi rifle is pretty decent because of the crit mods it has on it. I haven't played Dead Money on any character yet, and Old World Blues was fun, but didn't seem as solid as Lonesome Road. I especially liked Lonesome Road, but Honest Hearts is pretty cool too. Excellent stories there, even more so than some of the base game. I recommend getting all of it, especially if it goes on sale again soon. Some of it is high level, but not all of it. That list above includes finding all of the companions and finishing all of their quests, and resolving relations with just about every faction in some way or another, depending on which faction out of the 4 you plan on having be victorious.ДЄlso, all the DLC is now out, so if you plan on getting it, there's another 30 hours easy. Taking the time to get the ending you want for each one gives you probably 30-40 hours of gameplay if you want it to. There are about 22 quests, some main, mostly side, that affect your ending sequence. If you followed the main quests exactly and did nothing else, it might even be less than 1/3. It also depends on how much running around you did before you got to the Strip. Instead of ''Scrap Heap'', the attack is called ''Spot Weld. Additionally, the Thermic Lance's special melee attack has been altered.

Should a hit result in a critical hit, it will briefly cause the target to smolder (smoke, but no fire). Oh Baby, Chainsaw (GRA w/ Durability Mod), War Club, Thermic Lance. The Thermic Lance now has a special effect associated with its critical hits.
